Explore how AI systems use examples and data
What a model learns from, and why the examples it is given shape everything it produces.

Discuss accuracy, bias, privacy, and AI-generated content
Where these systems get things wrong, what should never be shared with them, and how to tell generated content apart from the real thing.

Plan an app for a problem they care about
Teams pick a real issue in their own community and work out what an app could actually do about it.

Create and test a prototype
Built using the course’s Canva Code pathway, with instructor guidance at every stage.

Present their idea and explain what they tested and improved
Students show the work, the reasoning behind it, and what changed once they tried it out.
AIA can base these activities on Apps for Good’s AI for Good 2.0, which is designed for ages 11–18. It offers Canva Code and JavaScript pathways in a flexible 12-session course.
A real question, answered with a real prototype.
Example: “Where could our neighborhood use more shade?” Students investigate the question, design an app concept in Canva Code, and present their recommendations.
Where appropriate, an instructor may introduce an ArcGIS map as a separate extension so students can explore location data.
