Lego Mindstorms EV3™ Robotics (ages 10-14)
This program uses Mindstorms, a robotics kit designed to increase interest in robotics and teach students the basics of sensors, structure design, and programming. Classes begin with an introduction to brick programming and basic structure and the class advances to block programming on the Mindstorms software. It then facilitates the creation of more advanced bots using sensors to interact with their environments and each other. Students may continue further to programing the bots with micro python for EV3 and expansion sets which allow for more complex designs. This course places an emphasis on teamwork and covers lessons on inputs and outputs, design planning, structural integrity, torque, center of mass, data types, if/then statements, and problem-solving/troubleshooting.
